Secondary Curriculum
Welcome to our Secondary Department. We anticipate an exciting year.
Our Secondary staff not only seek to educate our students so that they can achieve academically (and aim for their dreams), but are also committed to supporting students to make, social and emotional progress.
We have lots of exciting things planned, including assemblies, trips, football matches, plays and celebrations.The staff are excited about a new academic year and a fresh start for students.

Key Stage 3
Compulsory national curriculum subjects are:

- Modern Foreign Languages – French

- Careers

Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 most pupils work towards national qualifications, usually GCSEs, although we offer Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 and BTEC courses.
The compulsory national curriculum subjects are:

- Computing
- Physical Education
- PHSE & RSE
- RE
- Careers
We also offer at least 1 subject from each of these areas as an option.
- BTEC Travel and Tourism
- GCSE Art
- BTEC Digital Media
- GSCE PE.
- GCSE Music
There are times when our pupils will accees other types of curriculum at an alternative provider off site. External provdiers that we currently work with are:
CST where pupils will work towards gaining a Level 1/2 BTEC in Construction or Mechanics,
Educate where pupils will work towards gaining a Level 1/2 in Art/ Construction/ Hair and Beauty.
Pathways to work towards gaining a Level 1/2 in Art/ Construction/ Hair and Beauty.
We quality assure our assessment of the curriculum through collaborating throughout the year with other schools and partnerships. We aim to enhance our teaching through LINCs and meetings with other Sefton schools to establish a common assessment framework across Special Schools.
