☀️ Welcome to the Summer Term! ☀️

It’s been fantastic to see how much the class has grown this year. Pupils are continuing to mature, becoming more independent and confident as they prepare for the transition into their GCSE years. We are incredibly proud of the progress they have made so far!

With the weather improving and the year coming to an end, this term will be full of engaging activities, exciting trips, and opportunities for pupils to apply their skills in real-life situations.

📅 What’s Coming Up This Term

This Summer Term, pupils will be:

💻 Completing the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

Finishing their final unit on Excel, building on the skills developed in Word (Autumn) and PowerPoint (Spring). Pupils who successfully complete all units will receive a Level 1 qualification this year, recognising their digital skills and achievements.

🌍 ASDAN – Outdoor Expedition Skills

Taking part in an exciting unit focused on outdoor learning. Pupils will develop key life skills such as map reading, cooking outdoors, and setting up a tent. These skills will be brought together in a full-day expedition experience.
Pupils will be submitted for either a Bronze or Silver ASDAN award this Summer.

🏃 PE – Athletics & Striking and Fielding

Developing skills in athletics events including running, jumping, and throwing, before moving into striking and fielding games. This will all link towards preparing for Sports Day, where pupils will have the chance to showcase their progress and compete.

📚 English – Charities & Campaign Writing

Exploring the work of charities and learning how to write persuasive campaigns. Pupils will also be reading Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, developing their reading, discussion, and writing skills.

We are really looking forward to a fantastic final term. This year has flown by, and we are so proud of how far the pupils have come as they get ready to begin their GCSE journey next year.
