Autumn Term
In class 4 we pride ourselves on being positive role models for the younger years in school, and always try our best in every lesson.
Outside of class we have lots of competative games of football and basket ball at break and lunch.
We love playing games in class once we have completed our work and "spin the wheel" to see which games we will play. Cabbages, 21, Wink Murder, the shopping game, 2 lies and 1 truth, eye spy, hangman, pictionary to name a few - ask your child which is their favourite!!
Our Learning:
- English - this term we are enjoying two books by the amazing Fan Brothers. Ocean Meets Sky takes us on an adventure into the sky on a homemade boat and The Night Gardener explores what kind of talents can bring together a community!
The children have been designing their own boats, their own adventures and all in the style of the Fan Brothers.
- Maths - To start the term we have looked at Place Value up to 10,000 and will move onto addition and subtraction using some pretty big numbers!
- PE - this term we will be enjoying developing our football skills on Mondays, playing basketball on Tuesdays and on Thursdays improving our cathing and throwing skills.
- History - we will be looking at the very distant past and exploring the lives of Stone Age men and women - how did they survive, what could they do, what technology did they develop and using evidence to support our learning.
- Science - we will be exploring bones, muscles and joints - what allows us to move, dance and run? What would happen if we didn't have bones or a spine like some animals and what happens when bones don't offer enough protection? Can animals create armour?
- Geography - Volcanoes!!! BOOM! Can we explain whey they erupt, can we predict when it will happen and why do we need to investigate further?
- Computing - Emails are so important to every aspect of society today and it is so important that we stay safe when reading and sending them. We will explore some golden rules for E-safey linked to emails.
- PSHE - Teamwork is our topic in PSHE and we will carry out some teamwork investigations to solve problems and help us become a better team together!
- RE - our topic this term is to explore who god is in different religions and how people communicate with their god or gods.
- Art - we will explore colour in Art this term. Did you know white is not a colour? Well, we can prove it! Get your children to explain it to you.
- Guided Reading - In class 4, we complete guided reading sessions 3/4 times a week. We focus on a wide range of text types and genres to improve our reading and comprehension skills.
