Welcome to Year 10!
An exciting new chapter in your school journey - your first step towards GCSEs!
This is a year full of opportunities: to challenge yourself, grow in confidence, and to build the habits that will help you to succeed not just in exams, but in whatever you choose to do next.
Remember, every lesson and every effort you make brings you closer to your goals.
Your teachers and support staff are all here to support and guide you every step of the way, but it is your determination and resilience that will make the difference.

All pupils in Year 10 will study the following core subjects:
- Maths
- English (Literature & Language)
- Science
- iGCSE
- Careers
- PSHE
- RE
- PE (1 lesson per week)
- Duke of Edinburgh
As well as two of the following, chosen by pupils as their GCSE options:
- PE
- Art
- Music
- Travel & Tourism

Career Connect - Liverpool based SEND event for students, parents and carers
Career connect are hosting a new event supporting young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in their journey to adulthood.
Ready Set, Thrive – Adulthood Awaits
Wednesday 22 October, 4-7pm
The Atrium, Learning Exchange, Roscoe Street, Liverpool, L1 9DW.
This event will bring families, professionals and services together, to offer expert guidance, professional resources and presentations from a range of partners.
The event will be led by Liverpool City Council, and aimed at secondary school children with SEND, specifically those in Year 9 and above, who are unsure of what their next steps could be or where to find advice and support.
Professionals and agencies supporting children with SEND are also welcome.
From education and employment to independent travel training and supported employment providers; this event will give young people and parents the information they need for an easier journey.
Specialist presentations will also be held between from 5-6pm from key providers on the following:
- 5pm: Choosing your options: What to consider - led by Liverpool City Council’s Special Educational Needs Information Support Service (SENISS)
Post 16 options: The curriculum offer, support and welfare available and how to apply, delivered by:
- 5.10pm: Hugh Baird college
- 5.20pm: Liverpool Community College
- 5.30pm: Knowsley Community college
- 5.40pm: Liverpool City Council Supported Internships - empowering young people with SEND to access to work opportunities,
- 5.50pm: Liverpool City Council Independent Travel – Explaining the remit and referral process and principles to support safe independent travel.
Refreshments will be provided.
A creche staffed by college learners and qualified teachers will also be available.
