Breakaway Club - this is for our students in the Secondary school, who perhaps do not like to sit in the dinner hall at lunch time. They prefer to be with an even smaller group of people. It is fully staffed and students have the opportunity to chat to friends in an informal setting ,whilst playing games or simply having a relaxing time before going back to afternoon lessons.
Our Music Teacher, Miss Paterson encourages additional Music enjoyment at School. Some of our year 9 pupils are not only talented but want to progress more, so she does practice sessions at break times and sometimes during lunch time, mainly with them. It’s fabulous to hear their music around school. In the Summer term, one of our year 11 pupils, Luke, is also running his drumming workshops for his leadership project, with some staff and students. These will take place last lesson on a Friday. We all look forward to hearing them perform.
Mrs Ratcliffe runs our Film Club on a Friday lunch time for our primary children. The pupils have their lunch while watching a film. Mr Ratcliffe always chooses a film that she knows the pupils will enjoy. She loves listening to their chatter afterwards, discussing what they liked and trying to predict what will happen next.
Reading Club - this takes place on a Friday afternoon, during last lesson, when the whole school has enrichment time. Pupils have the opportunity to sit with friends and enjoy reading books for pleasure and leisure.
Gardening Club - we have a school garden in which we have grown vegetables, herbs and some flowers (you should have seen the height our sunflowers reached). This club has restarted and pupils will be asked to sign up for it.
FIT Club - This will be offered last lesson on a Friday afternoon. There are a lot of students who love keeping fit and enjoy learning new ways to keep fit and healthy. We look forward to seeing this club progress and I'm sure our students will be pleasantly surprised with the overall progress that they make.
