Form Teacher: Mr Marshall
Teaching Assistant: Miss Bannister
It has been great to see the students return after the summer break and we are all ready to embark on a new year of learning and building skills at Newfield.
We have the same six students from last year with the addition of one new, year eight pupil. We have moved into a nice big classroom with its own access to the outside areas.
We have also got a new therapy dog based in our class called Rufus, who is a rather large but very friendly Scottish Deerhound. Rufus has a Kennel Club Good Citizens Award certificate and is enjoying his new job.
In English we are studying mystery writing and reading “An Inspector Calls”.
In Maths we are enhancing our calculation skills using decimals which although challenging to begin, students are all making good progress and some are starting to enjoy the challenge!
Pupils will be studying:
English, Mathematics, Science
Computing (Where they will be studying for the ECDL level 1 qualification this year)
History, Geography, Careers
Citizenship, PSHE, Religion
Design Technology, Food Technology, Music, Art
This is a varied curriculum for students, where everyone has the chance to succeed and progress towards a career for their future life.
If families need additional help to support their child please contact class staff – we will be more than willing to help you. As an addition to any class homework given, please can your child do the following:
It’s not all work though – Students will have the opportunity to go on school trips throughout the year, to support and enhance their learning, but also as a reward for continuing good behaviour and good attitude. Students will also aim to fund raise throughout the year to support our school charities, which they enjoy very much.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
