At Newfield every pupil either has, or is waiting for, a statement of their special educational needs. This page will hopefully explain what that means and also show you where you can go for more information if you need it.
Newfield School has special provision for children and young people aged 5-16 with social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties that have meant that they struggled in mainstream schools that have fewer adults and often very large classes, sometimes more than 30 in number.
What is special about Newfield is that our classes are small and normally have no more than 10 pupils. There is a qualified teacher in every class as well as at least one qualified teaching assistant. All adults are trained and experienced in supporting our pupils.
We aim to ensure that every pupil has improved access to learning, no matter what their difficulty may be, and follow National Curriculum, as in mainstream, but at a level and pace suited to each individual.
