Welcome to a new term and a new academic year, where our students will be both excited and a bit worried about taking the next steps in their learning journey in school life.
Between us we will help to settle the students into their new routine and new lessons and we will encourage them not only to work hard and aim to the best they can, but to also continue to make their families proud of them. .
In line with the new Curriculum, pupils will be studying:
This is a varied curriculum for students, where everyone has the chance to succeed and progress towards a career for their future life.
Homework will be given throughout the year for all subjects. If families need additional help to support their child please contact Mrs Penney or Miss Neeson – we will be more than willing to help you. As an addition to any class homework given, please can your child do the following:
Reading - we suggest pupils read every day, about something that they are actually interested in. This will help increase their vocabulary, as well as looking at how words are spelled and how authors use language.
Spellings - practice any spellings given. You can use a dictionary to help you understand the meaning of the word, then use the words in sentences.
Handwriting - not only is it important to get used to writing with a pen or a pencil it's also important that your handwriting is understood (as best as possible).
Times Tables - these are important as they help your child in their maths lessons. Some children also need
Speaking and Listening - we encourage our students to talk to their families and share their day with them. this not only involves our parents and carers in their child's day but also encourages our students to listen to their family and friends too.
It’s not all work though – Students will have the opportunity to go on school trips throughout the year, to support and enhance their learning, but also as a reward for continuing good behaviour and good attitude. Students will also aim to fund raise throughout the year to support our school charities, which they enjoy very much.
